SUMMARY:SEG 2025 Field Trip: IOCG\, ISCG\, and Sediment-Hosted Cu (±Zn-Pb-Ag) Deposits of the Mount Isa Province – North West Queensland
DESCRIPTION:SEG 2025:  Pre-Conference Field Trip \nThis trip will provide a hands-on introduction to the geology of diverse Cu and Cu-Au mineral deposits in the Mount Isa Province through a combination of field and mine site visits and drill core demonstrations. Participants will review mineralization and alteration characteristics of major iron oxide and iron sulfide copper-gold (IOCG and ISCG) deposits of the Cloncurry district in the east of the province—in comparison with sediment-hosted copper deposits in the west. \nThe field trip will be led by geoscientists from the Geological Survey of Queensland and EGRU. \nFurther information is available from the SEG 2025 Conference website. \n\n\n  \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:SEG 2025 Field Trip: World-class intrusion-related epithermal gold deposits of Northeast Queensland
DESCRIPTION:This 3-day pre-conference field trip will provide a hands-on introduction to the geology of Intrusion-Related and Epithermal gold deposits in the Charters Towers Province (North East Queensland\, Australia)\, through a combination of field\, mine and local museum visits. Participants will review mineralization and alteration characteristics of major Intrusion-related and Epithermal gold deposits that formed in response to a prolonged magmatic activity during the Paleozoic tectonic evolution of the eastern margin of Australia. \nThe trip will include visits to the Intrusion-Related Ravenswood and the Epithermal Pajingo gold deposits as well as to the museums in Charters Towers where the participants will learn about the rich history of a town built around gold exploration and mining. \nThe field trip is jointly organised by the Geological Survey of Queensland and EGRU. \nFurther information and registration details are included on the SEG 2025 Conference website. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:SEG 2025 Field Trip: Sn-W Deposits and Rare-Metal Mineral Systems of Northeast Queensland\, Australia
DESCRIPTION:This 3-day pre-conference field trip will provide a hands-on introduction to the geology of Sn-W mineral system\, through a combination of field\, mine and local museum visits. Participants will review mineralization and alteration characteristics of Sn-W porphyries and associated polymetallic systems which formed in response to a prolonged magmatic activity during the Paleozoic tectonic evolution of the eastern margin of Australia. \nThese deposit types were produced by one of the most significant granite-related Paleozoic Sn-W mineral systems in Australia. Key featured deposit types include vein tin (Herberton)\, polymetallic Cu-Sn-In (Baal Gammon) and Sn-Ag-Pb-Zn (Dover Castle) vein deposits\, vein W (Mount Carbine) and W-Mo-Bi greisen (Wolfram Camp) – each type represented by the largest deposit in Queensland. The trip will also visit museums in Herberton where the participants will learn about the rich history of tin deposits in the region. \nThe field trip is jointly organised by the Geological Survey of Queensland and EGRU. \nFurther information and registration details are included on the SEG 2025 Conference website. \n  \n  \n

SUMMARY:Interpreting Ore Textures\, Breccias and Alteration - SEG 2025 Post-Conference Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Zillmere\,  Brisbane \nThis workshop will introduce observational techniques to interpret textures in altered\, mineralized and brecciated systems and demonstrate the integration of these observational techniques with geochemical\, micro-analytical and hyperspectral data. The workshop is particularly aimed at senior tertiary students and early career geoscientists. \nThe workshop is a joint venture between the Economic Geology Research Centre (EGRU) at James Cook University and the Geological Survey of Queensland (GSQ) and will be held at the GSQ Exploration Data Centre in Zillmere. \nFurther information and course registration is available from the SEG 2025 Conference website.
